Who Qualifies For Your Bursary Or Student Loan From NSFAS?



The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has formally opened the 2025 application system.

Applications are actually open and will close on 15 December 2024.

*** Who qualifies for NSFAS funding

To qualify for NSFAS funding, an applicant will have to meet the following requirements:

• Be considered a South African citizen or copyright who emanates from a home having a combined gross residence income that does not exceed R350 000 for each annum.

• People with disabilities qualify if their combined family income isn't going to exceed R600 000 per annum.

• SASSA recipients instantly qualify for funding and wish not post any proof of income.

*** Loan Scheme for the Missing Middle

The NSFAS Loan Scheme for the missing middle is open to all South African citizens and permanent people from homes with combined R350 000 and R600 000 for each annum.

Applicants are reminded to offer the right Identity Document numbers, names, and surname, as mirrored of their South African ID.

NSFAS only funds individuals who are learning or intend to research in a general public university or TVET college in South Africa.

All students who wish to study in any of the public universities and TVET colleges should apply timeously and not to wait until the last day.

Learners do nsfas check not have to wait for matric results to apply for NSFAS. They should apply now and avoid delays in the processing of their application.
